Revised Pay Rules Punjab

                       Today in this post we will discuss the Revised Pay Rules of the Punjab Government which are published till date. We will see how an increment had been granted in old pay rules. What was the amount or rate of increment at that time? Without wasting more time let's start our main topic:-

Revised Pay Rules 1979

                    These rules may be called the Punjab Civil Services(Revised scales of Pay) Rules, 1979. These shall be deemed to have come into force on the first day of January 1978. The initial pay of a Government employee in the revised scale was fixed according to rule 6. you can download the revised pay rules 1979 notification from below:-

Revised Pay Rules 1988

                   These rules may be called the Punjab Civil Services(Revised Pay) Rules, 1988. These shall be deemed to have come into force on the first day of January 1986. The master scale was introduced as described below:-

                    The initial pay of a Government employee in the revised scale was fixed according to rule 7. The initial pay of a Government employee who opts or is deemed to have opted for the revised pay scale in terms of the provision of these rules shall be fixed in the following manner namely:-
(i) an amount representing ten percent of the basic pay in the existing scale, subject to a minimum of rupees fifty shall be added to the existing emoluments of the Government employee;
(ii) after the exiting emoluments have been so increased, the pah shall be thereafter be fixed in the revised scale at the stage next above the amount of the existing emoluments so computed, if it falls between two stages

Fixation of pay on promotion in revised pay rules 1988

            The benefit of a minimum of two increments shall be given while fixing the pay in the scale of the higher post. The next increment in the scale of the higher post shall be allowed after the completion of twelve month's qualifying service in that scale;
            Provided that where the promotion of a government employee to a higher post is effected after he has availed the benefit of one or two proficiency step up(s) in accordance with the instructions issued on this behalf, his pay in the scale of the higher post shall be fixed by giving him the benefit of only one increment:
                Provided further that a Government employee may give an option for fixation of his pay on promotion to the effect that-
            (a) his initial pay may be fixed by giving the benefit of two increments in the scale of pay of the higher post as provided under this rule; or,
            (b) his pay may be fixed initially by giving him one increment in the scale of pay of the higher post, which may be re-fixed subsequently b giving the benefit of two increments in the scale of pay of the higher post as provided under the rule on the accrual of next increment in the scale of pay of the lower post subject to the provisions contained in the first proviso.

The above master scale is re-revised w.e.f 01-01-1993 as follows:-

Revised Pay Rules 1998

                   These rules may be called the Punjab Civil Services(Revised Pay) Rules, 1998. These shall be deemed to have come into force on the first day of January 1996. The master scale was introduced as described below:-

Revised Pay Rules 2009

                    These rules may be called the Punjab Civil Services(Revised Pay) Rules, 2009. These shall be deemed to have come into force on the first day of January 2006. In these revised pay rules a new system of Pay Band and Grade Pay was started. General Conversion Table at schedule appended to these rules. Also posts are categorized as Group A,B,C and D.
